William was a treasure to have at the farm. He was a joy to have around and a tremendous help. Thanks William for all your help!
We are extremely happy to welcome William Newman-Wise as one of our 2011 Interns. William comes to us from Walla Walla, Washington where he attends Whitman College. He is studying Art and Environmental Humanities. When not studying, he is out helping with Stream Restoration. William is fluent in French and is an avid chef!
In William’s own words, “My goal, in the tradition of Wendell Berry, is to have a significant, direct, and positive environmental and community building impact. I am passionate about rural, community, and agricultural issues, and understand the need for a collective conscience to ensure progress alongside stability. Art raises complex questions, sustainable farming reintegrates humans with and revives land. I hope to tackle our disconnect from nature throughout my career, reconnecting people with one another and the land that they physically live on but no longer live off of.” A valiant goal!
William will work with the Sublette Local Food Alliance on its Community Food Assessment while interning on the Farm. We look forward to having you on the Farm Team!
